Yoga & safari retreat in Chobe National Park, Botswana

3 - 11 September 2027

Our very first Yoga & Safari Retreat promises to be a once in a lifetime experience. An opportunity for awe-inspiring wonder, deep connection, and unforgettable encounters surrounded by extraordinary wildlife.

The journey will begin with one night at the breathtaking Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe, before continuing to Munga Plains in Botswana for seven nights. Nestled on the edge of Chobe National Park, this private yoga and safari retreat lodge offers the perfect setting to slow down, reconnect, and immerse yourself in the magic of the African bush.

About Munga Plains

In the north of Botswana, where four African countries meet, this remarkable region offers a rare sense of remoteness while remaining rich in wildlife and untouched by mass tourism. Located around three hours by road from Victoria Falls, Munga Plains is perfectly positioned for those wishing to combine a retreat experience with a visit to the Falls.

Munga Plains is a small safari camp thoughtfully created for yogis, set on the edge of Chobe National Park. With an open-air shala overlooking the savannah, the retreat space invites you to pause, reset, and reconnect with nature.

Surrounded by untamed nature and free from fences, every moment in Chobe National Park feels immersive and alive. Home to one of the world’s largest elephant populations, this extraordinary wilderness spans 11,700 square kilometers of floodplains, riverine forests, and woodland, where elephants, lions, leopards, giraffes, hippos, crocodiles, and antelope roam freely alongside more than 450 bird species.

The camp itself has been built with care and intention to blend seamlessly into the surrounding landscape. With beautifully designed en-suite glamping rooms and space for only one retreat group at a time, Munga Plains offers an intimate and deeply personal experience in the heart of the wilderness

Retreat programme

The retreat begins in Victoria Falls with a one-night stay at a partner lodge, including an afternoon visit to the magnificent Falls.

On the second morning, the group will travel to Munga Plains via Kasane, a journey of approximately three hours by road. Along the way, you’ll enjoy a boat cruise on the Chobe River, offering a gentle introduction to the rhythm of the bush. Watch elephants gather along the riverbanks, crocodiles resting on the sandbanks, and listen to the distant calls of hippos echoing through the water.

By early evening, the group will arrive at camp in time to settle in and enjoy dinner beneath the stars.

The following six full days at Munga Plains will include a carefully curated programme combining one or two yoga classes each day with immersive safari and cultural experiences. The retreat includes a walking safari, two morning game drives, one evening and night game drive, and a selection of cultural activities.

Each day is designed to weave together movement, stillness, wildlife, and connection. The stillness of the bush deepens the practice, while the practice itself transforms the way you experience the wild.

On the final morning, the group will transfer back to Victoria Falls after breakfast.

Things to do

Days at Munga Plains are thoughtfully balanced between adventure, connection, rest, and exploration. Guided safari walks offer a slower and more intimate way to experience the bush, inviting you to tune into the sights, sounds, and rhythms of the natural world while learning to track wildlife on foot alongside experienced local guides.

Game drives through Chobe National Park offer the chance to encounter some of Africa’s most extraordinary wildlife, from vast elephant herds and graceful giraffes to lions, leopards, zebras and an abundance of birdlife, with occasional sightings of cheetahs and other elusive predators. Morning drives reveal the bush awakening with the sunrise, while evening and night safaris offer a completely different perspective as nocturnal animals begin to emerge.

Between activities, there is plenty of time to simply slow down and soak in the stillness of the surroundings. Relax by the pool overlooking the bush, enjoy a quiet moment on your private veranda, or rest in the peaceful rhythm of camp life as wildlife moves through the landscape around you.

The retreat also includes meaningful cultural experiences within the local community. Visits to the nearby village and school offer an opportunity to connect with local people, learn about daily life in Botswana, and gain a deeper understanding of the region beyond the safari experience. These moments of cultural exchange bring another layer of richness and perspective to the retreat journey.

Accommodation & food

The camp features ten beautifully finished double or twin glamping rooms, each positioned on its own raised wooden deck with a private veranda overlooking the bush.

Inside, you’ll find comfortable beds configured as either double or twin, along with a wardrobe, fan, and mosquito net to ensure a comfortable stay.

Each tent also includes an en-suite bathroom with a flushing toilet and hot-water shower. At night, the soft sounds of the bush drift gently through the canvas, grounding you in the wilderness that surrounds you.

As the sun begins to set, gather together for sundowners before enjoying dinner around the fire beneath the African sky.

Three nourishing meals will be served daily, along with snacks throughout the day. Vegan, vegetarian, and allergen-friendly options can be arranged in advance. Coffee, tea, juices, and water will be available throughout your stay, while the bar offers soft drinks, wine, beer, and cocktails at an additional cost.
